Sales Agronomist – Nairobi, Kiambu & Upper Kajiado

Job Overview

Holland Greentech Kenya is hiring a Sales Agronomist to support commercial and technical engagement with medium and large-scale horticultural farms in Nairobi, Kiambu, and Upper Kajiado. We’re looking for a dynamic salesperson with both technical agronomy knowledge and a strong commercial drive to grow our market in Nairobi, peri-urban Kiambu, and upper Kajiado. The focus of this role is on promoting a wide range of solutions to improve the business case of farmers—including high-quality vegetable seeds, biological fertilizers, and biological crop protection products (IPM).

The Sales Agronomist will work directly with farmers to drive sales and sustainable production practices. This is a farm-facing role that combines sales, technical support, and account development, in close coordination with our agronomy and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Account Development

  • Promote and sell Holland Greentech’s solutions aimed at improving farmer profitability and sustainability. – e.g. high-quality vegatable seeds, biological fertilizers, and biological IPM products.
  • Identify, engage, and convert medium and large-scale growers into long-term clients.
  • Work closely together with the local team of our suppliers Rijk Zwaan and Koppert.
  • Build a solid pipeline and consistently follow up to achieve conversion targets.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Provide on-farm technical support related to crop nutrition, pest and disease management, and best agronomic practices.
  • Organize and support demo plots and training sessions with assistance from the agronomy team.
  • Collaborate with technical colleagues to ensure comprehensive support to growers.
  • Follow up on product use and performance and offer agronomic advice accordingly.

Customer Follow-Up & Retention

  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding product usage, order tracking, and delivery.
  • Offer a consultative approach to problem-solving, tailored to farm-specific challenges.
  • Encourage loyalty through value-driven relationships and proactive engagement.

Reporting & CRM Discipline

  • Log all field visits and client interactions in the Daily Visit Report (DVR).
  • Provide weekly reporting on visits, sales activities, and market feedback.
  • Share insights on customer needs, competitor activities, and emerging trends.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in agribusiness sales and horticulture advisory.
  • Technical knowledge of vegetable production systems and biological input use.
  • Familiarity with commercial farms in Nairobi, Kiambu, and Upper Kajiado is a plus.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Sales-driven with a strong agronomic background.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Well-organized and able to manage work independently in the field.
  • Confident in using basic reporting systems.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili
  • Motorcycle license (Class A) is preferred.
