Teach For Kenya
TFK seeks to build a leadership force for the country that will catalyze systemic change in
their communities to ensure that every Kenyan child unlocks their potential and is equipped
to design a successful future for themselves. We aim to recruit talented young Kenyan leaders
into a two-year teaching fellowship. The fellowship aims to place these high-potential leaders
in teaching positions in high-need schools across the country, providing children with

About the position
Teach For Kenya is searching for dedicated and passionate individuals to join as Fellows. The
primary responsibility of the fellows is to mentor and empower children to achieve
meaningful results with their students and inspire a lifelong commitment to addressing
educational disparities. In this role, the fellow will support the children by developing
leadership skills inside and outside the classroom.
During the initial year of the participants’ experience, fellows will play a crucial role in
establishing partnerships in their assigned schools. This involves assisting partner schools in
understanding TFK program requirements, accessing necessary support and resources, and
fostering a culture of continuous learning. Moving into the second year, the fellows will guide
their students in setting visionary goals for their success. They will engage their schools in
data-driven problem-solving to enhance student achievement, access, and their aspirations.
They will also implement a capstone project within their school community, a prerequisite for
graduation.
Over the two years, the fellows will personalize each child’s journey through the Leadership
Development Programme offered by TFK and implemented through the support of the
Leadership Development Coach. This includes facilitating the leadership development
journey of their students.
Key functions :
● Provide effective and inspiring leadership within the classroom.
● Set high expectations for student achievement and foster a culture of excellence
● Deliver high-quality, engaging, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse
needs of students.
● Integrate technology to enhance the children’s learning experience.
● Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that addresses the individual
needs of students
● Provide additional support and resources for students facing educational
disadvantages.
● Maintain accurate records and documentation including professional documents to
assess student progress and inform instructional decisions.

● Implement strategies for continuous improvement based on student performance
data.
● Collaborate with colleagues, school staff, and community members to create a holistic
educational experience.
● Work closely with other Teach For Kenya participants and educators to share best
practices and resources.
● Engage in professional development opportunities provided by Teach For Kenya.
● Actively participate in the Leadership Development Programme to enhance
leadership skills and competencies.
● Build positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
● Act as an ambassador for education, advocating for positive change within the
community.
● Demonstrate a commitment to continuous personal and professional growth.
● Stay informed about educational trends, research, and best practices.
● Advocate for educational equity and social justice.
● Work towards addressing systemic issues that contribute to educational disparities.
● Assess the impact of teaching practices on student outcomes.
● Contribute to the overall goals of Teach For Kenya by positively influencing the
educational prospects of students.
● Be available to share relevant data with the MEAL team as per the TFK guidelines
● Provide emotional support to the learners as needed
Other Information:
● Available to participate in all the continuous professional development training
availed by TFK
● After successfully completing the 3 months probation they will join the current Cohort
5 fellowship program which end in Dec 2026
● Significant time commitment during the 2-year fellowship program
● Participate in all formal school activities as guided by the Headteacher

Qualifications – Education, Experience, Skills, and Beliefs
● Bachelor’s degree with teaching experience of not less than three (3)months or done
teaching practice
● Leadership experience is strongly preferred
● Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
● Ability to develop, prepare, and present a lesson to children in school
● Superior problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

● Excellent communication skills, listening skills, and high emotional intelligence
● Commitment to learning and willingness to apply new ways of thinking to address
entrenched challenges in the education sector
● Ability to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
● Fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
● An unyielding belief that all children can learn at high levels
● Deep interest in and understanding of children learners
● Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
● A good team player but also the ability to work under their initiative to meet deadlines
● Computer literacy – Ms. Office suite, G.suite, and Outlook.
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to assess, prioritize, and manage a varied
workload; Time Management, Strategic Planning, Prioritisation
● Exceptional relationship-building skills; the ability to establish effective working
relationships with people of all working styles, backgrounds, industry experience, etc.
● Approaches work in a dynamic growing organization with initiative, drive, flexibility,
and a sense of urgency

This is a full-time, salaried position.
