CORPORATE AFFAIRS & COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

JOB OBJECTIVE

  • The job holder will support the execution of strategic communication initiatives, ensuring the University maintains a strong brand reputation, fosters internal engagement and leads corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. This role involves media relations, content development, Digital Communications, stakeholder engagement and internal communication.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Write and edit articles, blogs, features, and op-eds.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies across platforms.
  • Manage online community engagement and brand partnerships.
  • Develop photo and video content in line with corporate messaging.
  • Livestreaming of internal University events in coordination with the ICT department.
  • Content development of engagements profiling the VC & CEO.
  • Develop event communication plans and execute branding strategies.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and official statements.
  • Manage media inquiries, organize press conferences, and cultivate relationships with journalists.
  • Monitor media coverage and enhance brand visibility through strategic placements.
  • Manage internal updates, newsletters, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Amplify the Vice Chancellor & CEO’s executive visibility program (EVP) to staff.
  • Coordinate town halls and staff addresses to foster a culture of open communication.
  • Develop employee branding initiatives aligned with the University’s mission and vision.
  • Develop and implement ethical and sustainable CSR initiatives.
  • Coordinate stakeholder involvement in community engagement activities.
  • Draft reports and impact stories showcasing the institution’s social responsibility efforts.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in:
    • Creative and article writing, speech writing, and editorial skills.
    • Multichannel digital content development, including social media, blogs, newsletters, and video scripting.
    • Editorial skills, with the ability to proofread, fact-check, and refine content for clarity and impact.
    • Speechwriting with the ability to craft compelling talking points for executives, keynote speakers, and public figures.
    • Managing live coverage of events.

  • Proficiency in multichannel photography and videography.
  • Strong writing and editorial skills.
  • Experience in corporate communications, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Skilled in crisis communication and reputation management strategies.
  • Strong understanding of social media content strategy, including engagement tactics for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter (X), TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Proficiency in writing articles, blogs, features, and op-eds with strong research and factual accuracy.
  • Knowledge of CSR best practices and sustainability initiatives.
  • Digital communication skills, including social media and content development.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Brand storytelling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
