About the Role

By the end of 2025, Amana Market seeks to be the leading platform for market transactions in Nigeria and Kenya. As a Finance Officer, your role is pivotal in ensuring the organization’s financial health and supporting it’s mission to empower local market hubs across Africa. As such, your duties and responsibilities in this role, amongst others, include Reporting to the Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Preparing and processing payments and receipts on cashbook and on CoAmana’s online banking system.
  • Managing the company’s accounting software (quickbooks) Updating the chart of accounts, Effective capturing and processing of journal entries and data,  reconciliation and uploading receipts
  • Payables and receivables management and invoicing
  • Payments clearing and working capital management on Amana market
  • Processing of internal payment and procurement requisitions.
  • Seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company.
  • Performance reporting – preparation of management reports for review by Finance director
  • Monthly invoicing to clients and reconciling invoices.
  • Monthly processing of Payroll/VAT/PAYE processing and other regulatory filings
  • Ensuring correct allocation of transactions or accounts in the general ledger.
  • Liaison with external auditors.
  • Implementation of an appropriate accounting system and sound finance function.
  • Produce and present regular financial and written finance reports for management
  • Assist in preparation of year-end accounts in line with regulatory requirements ready for audit.
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Advanced Levels/Certifications in ACCA/CPA are an added advantage
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to  work in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
  • Fluency in English (any other language is a plus)
