- The Junior Credit Analyst will assist in evaluating and managing the credit risk for individual and business loans within the organization. The role requires a blend of analytical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of microfinance lending practices. This position offers an opportunity to grow within the field of credit risk assessment and management and contribute to financial inclusion efforts in underserved communities.
The holder of the position will focus on and deliver the following key responsibilities:
- Review loan applications by verifying financial documents and conducting preliminary credit assessments using financial models.
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, collateral valuations, and financial ratios to determine applicants’ creditworthiness and financial health.
- Evaluate key risk indicators, including repayment capacity, business viability, and the 5Cs of credit, to assess loan eligibility and mitigate potential risks.
- Identify trends, patterns, and red flags that may impact repayment behavior or loan performance.
- Provide recommendations on loan structuring, pricing, and risk management based on analysis.
- Track loan performance, detect early warning signs of potential defaults, and support strategies to minimize delinquencies through follow-ups and resolutions.
- Support the Credit Hub Manager in recommending loan approvals while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee accurate completion of loan documentation and verify the authenticity of borrower documents such as identification, income proof, and collateral.
- Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of approved loans in coordination with relevant teams.
- Prepare detailed credit reports with clear recommendations and maintain thorough records of loan decisions and communications.
- Collaborate with loan officers, branch managers, and other teams to gather information necessary for credit assessments.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide timely responses to inquiries related to loan applications, assessments, and repayments.
- Offer guidance and training to loan officers on credit analysis methods and best practices
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Certificate/Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in credit analysis, financial analysis, or a related field. Experience in microfinance or community banking is a plus.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and basic financial ratios.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data analysis, financial modelling) and other MS Office applications.
- Familiarity with credit scoring models and loan management software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in credit decisions.
- Willingness to engage with clients and understand their financial situations while providing guidance and assistance.
