As an organization mandated to be the voice for children and young people in Uganda, UNICEF continuously engages graphic designers to support the production of various communication, advocacy, resource mobilization, and fundraising multimedia materials to advance the cause of children. Some of the multimedia materials include policy briefs, strategies, publications, survey findings, infographics, reports, newsletters, posters, flyers, factsheets, factographs, storybooks, manuals, flipcharts, presentations, posters, social media graphics, GIFs, data visualization and visibility items like signposts, stickers, t-shirts, aprons among others. The demand to produce these materials from UNICEF programmes, cross-sections, and partners has shot up warranting the continued need to hire experienced graphic designers to support the CARP section with this skillset which is limited internally.
The purpose of contracting graphic designers is to support CARP in communicating for and with children through creative designs that depict the situation of children, the impact of work done by UNICEF and its partners, and actions taken by stakeholders to change the situation through simple practical solutions.
How can you make a difference?
Justification
Over the years, UNICEF has branded itself as an agency that communicates more consistently, credibly, and creatively for and with children to enhance its voice, reach, engagement, and storytelling.
Given the increasing need to maintain high levels of standards of multi-media assets produced and disseminated by UNICEF Uganda, it is important to work with designers of high caliber who have a wide range of expertise and are readily available to respond to requests, sometimes at short notice to work from scratch to format and design key multi-media materials including knowledge management and advocacy products. For assets specific to UNICEF, the UNICEF brand book and UNICEF publications guidelines must be followed while for those jointly produced by UNICEF and its partners, relevant brand guidelines must be adhered to.
High-quality multimedia materials enhance the success of UNICEF’s programmes and contribute to evidence generation for the country office’s policy and public advocacy efforts.

The evaluation team first reviews the technical aspect of the offer followed by the review of the financial offer of the technically compliant vendors.
To be shortlisted to participate in the two stage procedure, the applicant must take note of the following:
- While writing and editing is purely not a job for a graphic designer, it is imperative a graphic designer employs some basic reading skills to the work they are designing mainly because a good design with errors in text can have a negative impact on the design. All applicants should indicate in their CVs that they are ready and willing to undertake basic reading, especially for light documents and visibility materials. Documents and publications
