Dementia in Eastern Uganda Project Position: Research Coordinator

 

Makerere University, College of Business and Management Sciences, School of Statistics and Planning (SSP), Department of Population Studies intends to undertake a project on “Dementia and Frailty among Older Persons in selected districts in Rural Eastern Uganda”. The study will be implemented in Busia and Namayingo districts of Eastern Uganda. The project seeks for a qualified individual to fill the position of a Research Coordinator.

Position: Research Coordinator

Reports to: Principal Investigator

Duration: 12 months, renewable for another 12 months based on satisfactory performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Coordinator Will Manage, Supervise Project Activities, And Ensure The Overall Monitoring Of The Research Project. The Research Coordinator Will

  • Provide support that contributes to the successful delivery of the research project.
  • Coordinate and support project administrative project tasks such as managing and maintaining project briefs/reports, project scheduling, and monitoring of project.
  • Support the accountability processes of the research project funds.
  • Assist with the execution of project plans and activities (data collection and report writing)
  • Prepare progress reports and updates for stakeholders on the project implementation.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Required Qualifications And Experience

 

  • A master’s degree in Gerontology / Population Ageing (essential) or Nursing, Psychology, Psychiatry, Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Social Work and Social Administration, Public Health (relevant), or the equivalent.
  • At least TWO years’ experience in successful research project management
  • Ability to work as a team leader and a team player.
